Far
Point is a fictional work written by one of our colleagues in the
controls industry, David Lindsley.
David
describes his work below:
I believe that people visiting your excellent Website would be
more than a
little interested in my novel "FAR POINT", which is set
against a backdrop
of the global power-plant control-engineering industry. A link to
the
Website below would help promote the book and therefore possibly
stimulate
interest in control-engineering training.
Set in contemporary China, Australia and the UK, "Far Point"
uses an
insider's experience of the power-generation industry to bring to
life the
excitement, rivalries and tragedies of a vital industry. It vividly
recreates the stresses and strains of working on extensive overseas
engineering projects and makes telling points about business and
political
pressures.
The story revolves around the men and women working in power-plant
construction, design and operations - and much of the action takes
place in
China and the UK.
At the end of last year, "Far Point" won an award in
the "Engineering Media
Challenge" competition, which was established by the Institutions
of Civil
and Mechanical Engineering, the Royal Academy of Engineering and
other
influential bodies. The concept was to address serious skills shortage
in
the engineering industry by raising the profile of engineers in
society. The
annual Challenge Awards are for works of fiction - books, plays,
TV
programs and films - which feature engineers in a positive light.
"Far Point" is available from major on-line retailers
such as Amazon, as
well as from conventional bookstores. It is also available as a

All the best,
